Happy CNY to everyone who are still reading this dead blog.
CNY have always not been the same ever since........ I don't even recall when was it.
It was always the time of the year when we would have looked forward to. The time when we would get to play with fireworks. My uncle would help to purchase the loudest fireworks for us. When we would be able to still play it openly in our house compound. When we will be greeted every new year morning with the red "mess" of the fireworks on the ground. The childrens (me included) will then search within the mess to look for "un-pop" fireworks to keep and play it after we get back. One of the most famous fireworks during that time is the "tek chu". We will each get a Sarsi glass bottle and put the tek chu into it before lighting it up. When we are bored, we will then play with the tek chu in the drain. Lighting it up and releasing it into the drain just before it started to fly off. It will then "fly" in the water and "pop" the drain water out.
This will also be the time when we would get to gamble openly at our home as well. We would start off with the mild "sa ki pai" (direct translation will be 3 cards). This is the game which can be played by tons of ppl. I think the bet was for 50cents for us or $1 (back then, the Malaysian Dollar is still being used). When we ran out of coins, we would then fold the $1 into half and tell our bankers that we are betting only 50cents. Apart from the sa ki pai, we would also play "tan chap" (wait ten), "ban lak" (black jack), "hu he hau hua" (fish prawn horseshoecrab flower), "tua se" (big small), and etc. It was also during the time when God of Gambler is still being very famous and we will all try to imitate him eating the chocolates. I still remember I will sit beside my parents when they play mahjong and also poker. Oh, I just remembered that my dad will also bring me to the coffee shop of a friend of his to play rummy. Back then, I still do not know how to play it. It was till recently only I really know the rule of this game.
When I was much younger, it would also be the time when we would get to go to the cinema to watch the new year movies. Catching the midnight shows with my parents and my uncle. This is back to the time when there are still tons of cinemas around Penang. REX, ODEON, etc (I forgot the rest already).
Then, this is also the time when we would receive the ang pow from the elders.Normally every parents will tell their kids to remember who gave which ang pow so that they can know how much the other party gave you and how much they actually gave to them.
But nowadays, the atmosphere have been very much different. No more fireworks. The gambling sessions does not feel much fun ald. The cinemas have been long gone. The ang pows no longer looks so attractive already. Is it due to that we have outgrown the feeling or is it the atmosphere have been lost in the name of progress?
HAPPY CNY EVERYONE!!!! =D

After Sometime.....
It had been a hectic start of 2011 for me in this 1st month.
The things I've wanted to do on my work have been creeping up on me and need me to pay more attention to them already. Currently, with a clearer direction of what needs to be done and more of systems things to be completed. Tiring and hectic, but actually, I felt it is going onto another level of work scope.
Still, there are times when I feel like killing people.
Enough on my jobs already.
Recently, we just noticed that our Canon 1000D had fungus growing on the sensor. So, basically it is a death sentence for my DSLR already. The replacement would have cost around 1/2 of the new price of the product. So, will most probably be switching our Lumix for most of the photos for now.
Besides, AmK had been on a craving for lomography recently (thanks to his "sun-you" friend). I don't think he read my blog, but if you do, you know who you are. HAHAHA
So, next on the purchase list will be a LC-A+. Although a Holga would have been cheaper but she love the LC-A+ which she tried from her "sun-you". But I have to admit that I all the while thought that she will love lomo pics more than the clear cut DSLR shots. Especially those tinted pics which she would make with PS or other softwares from the shots.
Now, I'm actually typing anything that comes into my mind. So, this post will gonna be quite weird as there are no motif at all behind it.
2 more days and I will be back to Penang already. It will be back to the time when I sleep with a mattress in the living room again. The time to assure my parents that I am still alive and kicking. Back to indulging myself with the glorious foods of Penang. Time to go back and play mahjong/rummy/cards with my family and Ah Long (my uncle). Time to settle my arrangements for my ROM and also prepare for my wedding. Time to catch up on the happenings around my family as well. But this time, I'll be back to S'pore by the 4th day of CNY. It felt so fast to need to come back to this small little red dot.
What else to say? hmmmmm.....
Oh, have been drinking quite a lot of starbucks coffees lately. All cause of the new starbucks card. What is more weird is that I have grown to like pure vanilla drink from starbucks or coffee bean. Not sure why, but am now loving the nice fragrance of vanilla.
Then, I've also spent quite a lot on clothes from Nov last year. Although I quite like the new style, but the price is excruciatingly painful to my wallet. But actually I do hope I can still increase the collections of these clothes.
okla.... dunno what to write liao..... ciao......

Running - 2010
I think I've over done it this year.
Up till now, the races which I have registered and paid up have a total distance of 120km (excluding a Croc's 5km walk).
2XU Compression Run - 12km *{1:42:55}
F1 MacRitchie Run - 15km (trail run) *{1:57"70 [Actual 14km]}
SunDown Marathon - 42km *{06:57:46}[Official Timing]
Singapore Bay Run - 21km
Newton Run - 30km
The above is not yet inclusive of the yearly SCSM (Stand Chart) and Nike Run which I normally registered. This weekend will be the 1st run of the year. Dunno what will happen.
I've also just bought a few new things for running. I bought a nike shoe at a Nike outlet last year but then found out that it is not suitable for long run as there were very little cushion. Thus, I went to get another pair of Nike shoe. A grey/yellow Nike LunarGlide+. Really love this shoe (although have only ran in it once).
Then, bought a Nike+ iPod Sport Kit with my Nano. Have just got my hand on it yesterday. Not yet tried it. Hope to be able to try it later today.
Oh, I have a new Newton Racebelt and also a 2xu Compression Socks. Got them from the race pack. Then, will be getting a Camel Pack (backpack with water bladder) by end of this month from the F1 MacRitchie Run.
Don't know y I'm into running now. Hope this can last long for me. :)

Swiss Day 6
Today is the best day I had in Swiss. I went alone today as Stanley had some other things to do. So, I walked to Melide (at the opposite side of the lake's side). On the way, I passed by the lake and took some morning pictures there. Then from Melide, I went to Capolago-Riva San Vitale by train (similar with MRT but way way nicer). Then from there, I took the train up to Monte Generoso. The mountain is 1704m tall. My hand was sweating most of the way. Some of you may not know, I have a very very huge fear of heights. But, I like mountains. Dunno when only will I be able to conquer this fear.
Back to the Generoso. The journey up was not very long, about 30minutes. The view along the way was OK. Some place where we could see the bottom of the mountain. But most place are just filled with trees. When I reached the mountain top. I was dumbfounded. The word, "ooooo" or "wahhhhhhh" also could not find the route out of my throat. The place is MAGNIFICENT!!!!!
I could not explain it in words what I saw. The view at the other mountains with snows at their tip. Not one or 2 or 3. The whole row in front of my view is a whole row of mountain like this. Not just the top. The bottom is of the view of the whole town of Melide and also the lake. The mountain is different from the ones near the equator. There are not that much tree. Generoso is not a tip with just solid rocks. It is full of small flowers and grasses.
I really think I cant describe them in my blog. Only photos are able to show you all how it looks like.
Now in Swiss is the start of summer. So, most of the families also went to Generoso for their trip. What I noticed is that, a lot of Swiss people loves to hike. A lot of them hike up the mountain and just had picnic there around the mountain. Oh, they bring their dog up for the hike as well. They also just go there for suntan. It is really packed there. Then, some of them went up to mountain to do paragliding. Very interesting. Based on the brochure, they have a paragliding class being conducted there also.
The only thing I don't like about Generoso is....... most of the place is full of SHITS!!! Cow dung, dog poo, other small small ones, the rest I really dunno is what poo ald. It is quite smelly.
After the trip, I went to Lugano again and shop again. Now, I'm really broke liao. Haizz... pokkai liao.
Btw, I look like a halfcooked lobster now. The cook forgot to throw the whole lobster into the pot of water. Only the pinchers are in the water. =p

Swiss Day 4
Nothing much happened today.
Went to lunch at a Thai takeaway place. Nice environment and the food is not bad.
I don't feel good ald. Mayb cause I do not have enough water to drink or don't have enough sleep.
Just now, went to buy waters and some foods again at the Shell station.
Oh, I tried a dish with saffron today. It was supposed to be the most expensive spice (according to Restaurant City in Facebook). But, does not really like it. Can't describe the taste. Especially with the cheese, I could not finish it.
Okla. Now will rest a bit already. Tomorrow is the weekend and we will have the chance to really go out and kai kai a bit.

Swiss - Day 3
It's already nearly 12am here liao.
So, today one will be quite short.
Went to Fox Town for lunch. Tons of shops but not much chance to see them.
Went out to Shell's "Convenience Store" and bought some food and drinks. Very much cheaper than most places. Movenpick ice cream at around 3 Swiss Franc. Bought some coke and also a pringles (paprika flavour).
Ate alone for dinner cause my colleague was still full. Pampered myself with a meal in the hotel's restaurant. Final price of the meal was 29 Swiss Franc. Had the most beautiful bottle of water (4.50/bottle).
Much more expensive than the espresso I had (2.50).
The main course is nice. Forgot the whole name already Pork dunno wat Milan style. Yummy.
I choose to sit at the outdoor facing the lake and mountain. The environment is really nice. BTW, I ate dinner at around 9+pm. The restaurant close at 10pm. So, it gets colder with each running minutes. :)
Enjoyed it though. =)

Swiss - Day 2
Today mark the 1st official Training day for my trip. So, actually, still no time to walk around much. No time to shop for the souvenir which "you got see only buy la".
To start the early morning, I woke up at 2am+. Just in time for 8am+ in Sg/My time. Lucky I woke up then also. Cause I need to get my IT personnel to give me the admin right for this PC in order to get ready for today's training. Besides, I get to chat with a few people which I normally chat to in the morning. Then, slept at around 3am+ till nearly 6am.
Had my breakfast at around 7:15am. It is a buffet of breads, hams and cheeses. The selection of the Jam and also Cheese. Don't get me wrong, the food are nice. Just that there are not much selections only. Dunno how to get through for the next 11more days of this breakfast. After that, we went to the training ald. Nothing much except it used up too much of my brain juice throughout the day. Felt my brain totally dun wanna think of anything at the end of the day.
Oh, todays lunch is GREAT! The original Italy spaghetti. I had the one with clams. They are very very fresh. The taste is not very strong. They just sort of compliments each others and have the very smooth taste which felt so special. In the end, the price for a meal for 3 is Swiss Franc 107+. Unimaginable. It is nearly SG$50/person for just a meal of spaghetti.
Then for dinner, we went to the small Italy again. This time, as we were very full from the lunch, we took our time to look for the restaurant. One of the cemetary we passed through yesterday caught my eye again. This time, I venture inside to take some photos. It is those cemetary which we had normally saw during the old times. With a lot of statues and catacombs (dunno if this is the right word or not). The church for this cemetary is actually looking at the lake. I don't believe my photography skills is good enough to show out its beauty. Besides, I used the Lumix FT1 to take the pictures. Too lazy to take out the 1000D with me.
The dinner we had is beside the lake. Nothing much to talk about. Just had some spaghetti. One thing unbelievable is that, I actually saw a few girls wearing bikinis playing beach volleyball there. Below 20 degrees and wearing bikini. After the game, the girls still go have a little dive into the lake.
Lastly, the temperature drop very fast when the sun sets.

In Swiss now - 1st Day part 2
Now is around 8:50pm in Swiss. The outside looks like it is only 7+pm even with the rain.
Ok, now back to where I wanna blog about my 1st day in Swiss.
I arrived in Milan Malphensa around 7am in the morning. Then, someone from the company drive us into Swiss with a car. You know what I learned today? There is no need forvisa passport when u travel from Italy to Swiss and vice versa. This is confirmed again at the evening when we (Stanley [my colleague] and I) went to Campion d'Italia. This is actually a little Italy (the people actually pay Italy for the tax), which is surrounded 100% by Switzerland. The hotel I stayed in is just at the so called border.
Back to my trip in the morning, after reaching, we were brought to a stop at the petrol station. Had the first taste of how Capucino should taste in Europe. Then, we move for a quick (very very very quick) short trip around town. After that, it was to TTB, the company I should be here for training. The people there are very enthusiastic and wanted to start straight away in the afternoon. So, we both agreed to it.
Thus, we went to check into our hotel at around 10+am. That is the time when I posted the 1st blog. We chatted with people in Sg and refreshed ourselves. Then, we go back to the factory at around 2+pm.
Do you know that, Swiss people really really love their coffee. The driver (actually a technician/engineer) drove us to have another round of capucino before heading to the factory.
We started around 2:30pm with the person who was supposed to teach us the software. It was a huge shocked cause we noticed that the time here, even though is around 2 weeks, is not sufficient for our full purpose. So, we started our crash course and it lasted till around 6:30pm. Tiring.
After reaching hotel, we put down our bags and went to search for our dinner. 1st real meal in Swiss. This is when we venture into the small Italy. The hotel receptionist told us the way and we started to walk. The sun was still very bright. Seems to be around 4pm+ in Sg. But it was actually around 7pm ald. Unbelievable.
We had our dinner in a small little cafe. We had a "pasta" not the similar pasta. There was no "Italian noodles" in it. The ingredient is omellete, ham, cream sauce and lots & lots of cheese. It is really wonderful. But nearing the end, you start to feel the grossness of this dish. Yet, I loved it. Oh, I also had a "Coffee Cream". It seems like espresso + sugar + cream. Unbelievably tasty. Not bitter at all. The aroma is great.
I also went to walk around the lake and took some pictures. I love the scenery. The people are great.
But I don't dare to think of the trainings for these 2 weeks. It will be hellish.
OK la, now I wanna go bath ald. It is nearly 44hrs + which I had only slept for around 1-2 hrs.

In Swiss now - 1st Day
I'm currently in Swiss ald. The time now is 11:15am.
Later at 2pm, I will need to start my training at the factory already.
The flight is consider ok, but not the best. There's a baby crying a few rows behind me. Haiz...
I only manage to sleep for around 1-2hrs from the nearly 13 hours flight. Imagine the condition I am in now. =D Lucky I had the cappucino just now.
Besides, there seems to be something wrong with my SD card. I was planning to send AmK the pics I took just now but, haizz.... sien.
I will try to update later if I still have the chance and strength. :p

1st Marathon
Completed the 1st marathon in my life already. My timing was way way way way off the target I set. Based on my own time, it is 6hrs 55minutes.
Now, both AmK and me are lying in bed and could not get anything done. Though hungry, our body are just too tired to move. I sustained several injuries. Some I think which is not normal. :p
Blister at my bottom of my left foot. All thanks to the stupid sandy cum stony stretch at the Bedok Reservoir. My right ankle suffered "break skin" (translate from chinese-now my mind not working. cant figure out the real name) The place besides my balls are very painful now. Due to the abrasions with my underwear. Then, my armpit also suffered the abrasion from my singlet. The worst one is the one beside my balls. I can't even walk properly now. These are beside the muscle pains which I am suffering all over my body. haizzz..... I AM HUNGRY!!! =p

Sundown Marathon
Tonight 11:59pm, I will be flagged off to start my first marathon. Thanks to everyone who wished me good luck and also advice me on this run. :)
Don't know how long I will take to finish this. My initial target was 6hrs to complete this. Now, I think I will try for a 5 1/2 hrs. Really hope I can achieve this one. The weather is not bad actually. Although it seems like it is going to rain soon. It is not too warm.
On the "Athletes Guide", there are 4 portions of the route:
1) String of Lights (22km) - should be a straight forward run of half the distance.
2) Heartland Twist (7km) - have 3 overhead bridges. Should be very challenging after the 22km
3) Waterfront Trail (6km) - should have nice view around the reservoir
4) Home Run (7km) - quote the document ".. runners will face a 300m uphill battle.."
I just think the organizers are a bit sadistic with this 300m uphill before reaching the finishing line. :p
Okla.... will relax a bit before preparing to reach there for the run. Hope I still have the energy to blog about this after finish the event. :)

Itinerary for June 09
For the month of June, I had counted that I should be working less than 10 days in office. =)
First week, 1st June, I will be on leave so recover from my Marathon during the weekend. So, work day starts on Tuesday till Friday (4 days). Then, I will come in on Monday before flying off to Swiss for some training on that night (1 day). The next week, I should be in Swiss the whole time (0 day). I will be back to work on the Monday after that and will work for 3 days before flying off again for my KK trip (3 days) and will be back on 30th June (but only back to work on 2nd July). So, in total, I will only work for 8 days for the month of June. Hehehehe
I had never imagined my life to be so hectic. I think this will be the month with a lot of firsts happening in my life. 1st time attempting to run a Full Marathon. 1st trip to Europe. 1st trip to East Malaysia. 1st time travelling to 2 places in one month. Its getting really exciting. =D
Now some info on my Swiss trip. So, I'll be flying off from Sg on the night of 8th June and will arrive back to Sg on the 21st. Hard to imagine that I will be away for nearly 2 weeks for this trip. For this trip, I will be going to Riva San Vitale in Ticino. It is at the south of Switzerland. The place which is surrounded by Italy. So, my flight will be reach Milan, Italy instead of going direct to Switzerland. Yeah!!! For those which does not know, Milan is at the North side of Italy and should be the nearest International Airport going to south Switzerland. Though I don't foresee any extra time being able to spend at Milan, but, it is still stepping foot to Italy. To add on the "1st"s happening to me in June. I will be arriving in 2 European countries within a few hours time. From Google Map, I will be across the border within 1hr+ from the Milan airport.
For those who have any suggestion on what to buy in Swiss. Please drop me a note in the comment. Till now, I am not sure of what to get yet. A bit too rush for me to do gather greater info on Riva San Vitale and also Swiss. Maybe can also include the Milan Airport. For those who know of how to get around at Riva San Vitale for the weekend. Please also suggest any interesting places or nice places to take photos there as well.

Run - TPY 26 May 09
Tuesday had been set in my company's calendar as a "Jogging Day" thanks to Freddy. He had initiated this run when we had to work for 4 days previously. For now, although only the minorities are joining, there are always around 4-5 ppl everytime. Not a bad turnout for a weekly event. We had decided that the venue will be at TPY stadium cause it is the closest to our office.
For yesterday's run, I think it is one of the best ones which I had did. Not in timing, but in distance. I could not have imagined I could complete a 20 round (19 run non-stop + 1 warm down aka walk). I think I actually still can go a few more rounds. (hehehe) Not sure if it is because of the events happening in office yesterday. It could be that I finally got hold of my own pace and are able to maintain it in the track. This is from a guy who previously could hardly complete a 2km run a few months back. Could be a psychological push on myself for the marathon this weekend. But I was really satisfied with my run. Although it took me 1hr to complete the 20laps which will make it similar with my previous 10km run events timing. But I am already satisfied with achieving this distance.
As for now, I will be resting for these 2 days (today included) and will probably go for a light run on Friday. Don't look down on my commitment for daily run for now. Cause I felt the sore and a little pain on my knee already. So, I think my body is telling me to rest a bit first.

Good or Bad? Yet to be decided!!
Something shocking happened to me in office yesterday. I was suddenly called by my old boss for a meeting with him and another colleague. Shocking cause, I had nothing much work related stuffs to discuss already. So, shockingly, he says that he suggested to big boss for me to be involved in one of the supposed to be established "team". I was shocked and had wanted to reject him for this already. I think he had already knew I would have rejected this and had prepared the "carrot" before hand. Before starting this new thing, there is a training which will need to be attended. Training Location : Switzerland.
How to reject? I had never even dream of venturing into Europe within these few years and suddenly I am given the opportunity to travel there. Besides, the supposed training was supposed to last for 8 days. Thus, meaning, should have a weekend there for me to explore around. The travel bug in me kept biting me to GO for it. But there was something which held me back.
So, I discussed this with my boss and she is really supportive. Basically, she ask me what I wanted and adviced me to get more info before deciding. In the end, the bug won. But, my position will still remain but with an extra role of being a supporting role for this new team. But, one thing someone told me:
For now, don't care first. Swiss, here I come =D

Run @ 24 May 09
Till now, I have been able to maintain a run everyday for these past few days. Quite proud of it. =D Really hope I can maintain this. But I think I better cut myself some slack before such a full commitment. =p So, I think, I will try to maintain a run everyday when I am in Singapore. For those holidays when I go for holidays, overseas or go back to my hometown, I will not need to commit myself. Come on, these times, I have better use for my time than to run around. =p
Back to this post, today, I went on a run alone at the Serangoon Park Connector. The one which I normally have my run during the day. A little bit on Park Connector. There is a "canal" along this park connector which I really love. There are quite a number of birds and fishes along this canal which makes it very enjoyable to have a run in. I had told myself to find a day when I will go there to just take pics of the birds and the beauty there but had kept procastinating these few weeks. So, the below are the pics which I had taken when I first tested out the 1000D quite a while ago. Trust me, the below pics says just very little of its beauty. Besides, the views at night is nothing to be proud of.

Back to the run, with all the run that I had been going through these few days, I think I could have pushed myself further in the distance that I am capable of. Although this may be a bit too late as I will have to go for my run this Sat evening/Sun morning. But it really felt good to maintain a run for a measly 6.4km (total 8km with additional cool down walk). Quite an improvement from my normal 2.4-3km run. Let's just hope I am capable of completing the Sundown this weekend.
Wish me luck. =D

Running
I had gotten hand on my iPod nano. Hehehe....
Love them. Just that I am not used to having to get iTunes to "synchronise" the songs and movies into this little baby. =D
Besides the iPod, we have also gotten our hand on the silicon casing and also the armband for iPod nano. Not that cheap though. T.T
I had taken them for 2 trial runs already. The 1st one, I just set the shuffle into shuffling ONLY one song throughout the whole run. Wasn't paying too much attention to the songs though cause was worried it will rain. Which in the end, it did rained. So, had to cut short of the run from the intended distance. Then it was just now (started my run around 11:30pm), had much better run. Although shorter distance (only around my area), which based on the timing, would mean around 2km. This time round, I had learned to set the whole playlist to be repeated which is quite nice. The night run is nice and cooling, not like how it was in the afternoon. There were also less people around. So, you don't need to avoid the people around you or the aunty/uncle which walks in the center of the path which makes you need to run into the main road in order to pass them. Besides, I had been hooked on for sometime with Macross Frontier's OST songs. I really love the voice of the singer. Especially so, after I saw the last episode of this anime. It is so touching and it just boost you up to continue on the run.
Now, I'm hoping I can mantain to at run once a day. Did not set on the minimum distance yet. But I think, a daily run around my area should be quite suffecient. Let's just hope I can maintain this. =D
Oh, on this running, end of this month, I will be joining the SunDown Marathon with AM and also CS. Had just gotten the Running Pack today. Maybe today I reach quite early (6+pm) at the Millennia Walk, there was only 7-8 people in front of me. I think I settle it within less than 10 minutes. Shocking compared with the Stand Chart and Nike Run previously.
It is really a big jump for me to go for a Full Marathon after only having taken part in 10km "competition". But, it had been done and there are no more turning back. On the bright side, even if it does takes me 7-8 hours to finish (I'm trying for below 6hrs), it will only be 7-8am in the morning. So, at least I do not need to run under the hot sun. =D
Wish me luck ya. =D

EQ
Nowadays, I seems to have easily lost my cool. Not just personal stuff but also works.
I do not seem to be able to contain my sudden burst of dissatisfaction. How come?
Haizzz... I also don't know how come these stuffs are happening to me now.
Someone used to comment on me saying I am old for my age and could look at things in a different perspective. However, the me now, I do not think I could take a step back and look at myself and also the other party before saying anything. I hate the me now.
